new 1- 1
this is part of a series i want to do - i am doing, i should say- where the punchline is at odds with the picture.
i want it to look like it was yanked - no pun intended - out of an old adult magazine. you know, the ones your dad had kind of thing. so i added a halftone layer to it.
does it come across ?
im about to make her shirt green. i almost made her blond, and then i thought, " not another blond in a cartoon image " so i made her audburn haired. but my neighbourhood babe told me she woulnt wear a red top if she has pale skin- as she probably does, and shes probably right. so ill change it to green, soon.
but here we go.

there you go, the final version, with color.
i think i got a handle on how to work around my colorblindness. it involves making palettes, in painter, from other ( peoples ) images, instead of just grabbing colors with the eyedropper.
well see how well my ideas work in the future. but at least for now i havent made the background green, or something awful.

ever see that simpsons where they are designing an animated character- i think his name was poochy? and this "suit" says to the designer "can you make him more 'street?'" and the artist draws sunglassses on him?
well, thats what happened here. they liked my cover, but wanted the two dressed like "gangsters."
gangsters. in a kids book. set in argentina.
i did what youre not supposed to do. i said no. but heck- are they really clients?its not like theyre paying me.
ill post my updated version soon.
